I like the jam proverb, I might start using that to describe some people I know.

I have an exception to your marmalade proverb, my Mum doesn't like marmalade at all. I don't exactly hate it but I don't really like it, I just used to eat it when I was a kid because Paddington Bear did... and then after I remembered I didn't really like it the rest of the jar would sit in the cupboard and either be eaten by my Dad or eventually go mouldy.

Which is, of course, patently untrue of everybody, even media whores like Katie Price and Kim Kardashian. There is, of course, the third option: that we don't give a shit about you.
