1989 - The Fall of communism in Romania (Part 9 - Final part)

Romania finally got rid of the communist dictatorship in December 1989 through a violent Revolution. The response of the communist leadership to the protests which started at Timisoara against the communist regime was to stop them with the help of firearms. The same things happened at Bucharest too, but the people who went to the streets to fight were many and full of anger against the dictatorship, so the Army went by their side. To create more harm to the people that turned their backs, Nicolae Ceausescu, the dictator who fleed soon after the begining of the Revolution, spread rumors such as the arab terrorists who came to kill the romanians, the poisoned water... Those rumors lead to confusion and chaos in the major cities of Romania and had as a result romanians protesters killing each other. Hundreds of people died because of those rumors, but because of them we can be happy for our liberty and rights.

This is the story of a private named Costi during the 1989 Revolution in Bucharest. The movie is named "Paper will be blue" and illustrates very well, after my opinion, what happened on those decisive days of December.

I do not own this movie. It has been made by Multimedia Est in partnership with Antena 1.

a beautiful movie. a very talented, young cast, proving, again, the developing strength of romanian cinema. as to content - revolution can never be 'tidy'. the romanian people were living under an all powerful tyrant. what happened is a tribute to their bravery. thank you so much for the subtitles. i do wish the two boys had survived.
