'08 Koi Harvest Day 3 3/3 (Long)

There were some monster sized koi in pond 3. This is another video, cut using footage shot at the Nishikigoi of Niigata fall koi harvest, day 3, in November 2008. Many exceptional koi were harvested on this day. Particularly outstanding was a Dainichi Sanke (the first koi in the video) and a Sakai of Hiroshima Sanke appearing later in the video (Bay and Bryan Bateman's koi). This koi has gone on to win a number of awards at koi shows, including 2009 Koi America champion. The harvest was a great event I was delighted to attend.

@SuperQuickStick How big is your pond? I would be inclined to keep the circulation pump on the aid in keeping the water clean. The koi should be able to find calm areas to sleep.

@SuperQuickStick How big koi get really depends on breeding. High quality koi grow big. Many do not. To see a Kohaku, Showa or Sanke 80 cm is rare. I've seen 5 year old Kohaku be 70 -80 cm. A koi bought from a pet store will never grow that big...
