When he drops like a rock into baritone, I feel like I'm bungee jumping. The first time I heard that while watching thisDVD, I felt like the floor had dropped out from under me -- I actually gasped. MAGNIFICENT.

I cannot WAIT until this opera is put on in New York -- although who knows what the staging will look like. I hope I can get tickets ...

I can't wait until March 31st to get to Vienna for Rodelinda. It will be worth the trip from Amsterdam. I will just have to realize that it will not be as good as with Scholl

@FuzzyCerts I wouldn't go that far. Farinelli himself was said to have a range down to tenor's low C. That would have been just enough to hit the C Andreas does here.

And that's what set countertenors apart from the castratos of old (well, apart from the obvious of course) - no castrato would have been able to dip into a baritone register :)
