(continued from post below) To my surprise, I recently learned that Willie G's son sometimes sings with one of my friends band: Smooth Touch. He sings very well. As far as the Midniters, you can catch them once or twice a year (sometimes with and sometimes without Willie G) at the La Mirada (aka Santa Fe Springs) Swap Meet and during a few other events in So Cal throughout the year. Heard a rumor this songs title was a reference to the drug, LSD. Thee Midniters did like to party kinda hard :)
First off I will say that even though I was born in 1972, I'm a tremendous fan of the East L.A. sound and of course, Thee Midniters. I've seen this clip before and although it's great to see, I can't help notice how awkward some of the older white people look in the background as they watch and listen to these "brown" guys with Beatle hair cuts! Lol! Thee Midniters are legends and I recently (late 2010) had the fortune to run into Midniter: Jimmy Espinoza at a local Pomona night club.
I just seeing the Midniters in concert at the Gibson Amp at Universal HollyWood at Willie G rock the full house cant wait to se them again. Where I grew up in Compton we always listen to the Midniters/Giantsespecially nowing the ELA Compton connection on the Largo 36 block.
@caterermam Shebang was a local pop music show broadcast by KTLA (which later went national) that aired every Saturday on Ch 5. The clip came from a special show taped live prior to a California Angels game in the summer of 1967.
I met a Guy , about 20 Years Ago , who said that He was the Group's Manager ... would That have been Eddie Torres ??? ... That's the Only Name that I can remember being-mentioned on the WHITTIER RECORDS Albums of Re-Issue Material ... did the Group ever have An ALBUM released while They were signed to the CHATTAHOOCHIE Records Label (owned + operated by the Widow of Edward G. Robinson , Ruth Conte + HER Son , John Conte)
