hell yeah, mike is the shit. I FUCKING HATE AL, to sum it up, watch the "i'm shipping up to boston" video, that fucking video goes against everything that mike made that band in to. old murphys were an oi band, made for skins (not nazi fuckers), and they respected the police and al makes the band look like fucking criminals and goes against mike completely, it's just not dkm anymore

i liked mike as the singer a lot better too, but i am still a dkm fan, just a bigger street dogs fan. and you must not be listening to much other dkm than besides the one fucking song that was in a movie or else you would know that they have plenty of songs praising cops and firefighters for what they do. and they do even still respect the skins as well as all the blue collar union workers out there. i wouldnt base your opinion just on an idea for a video some fuckhead director had...

I agree with blackmagic. I am a McColgan fan too, but Al Barr was a huge part of the American Oi! scene in the 80s, before DKM existed. That said....
I am sure McColgan isn't a right-wing nutt, and if Al Barr supports the labor unions, workers rights, and veterans rights, which we all know he does, I am sure he has more support for Obama and Clinton than Mr. John McCain.

Dropkick wasn't made for Skins. Lets be serious. Al Barr is a Skin too though, at least used to be. Look up The Bruisers if you didn't already know. But I do agree with the fact that Dropkick has become a different band, they carter to the trends now.

People forget how much Outlets there is in the early Dropkick's sound. Ricky Barton was the guy who shaped the sound. watch?v=sN2c00lutVA

For the Nazis, race is paramount. For the Trad Skins and street punks/Oi Skins, (working) class is paramount.
From my own experience as a street punk in Boston, the only difference between me and a skinhead was clothing. Same music; Same girl friends; Same everything.
Aggro is a close second for all three. And Patriotism.

allright so that being said what would some of the tenements of being a skin actually be? i guess im beating around the bush a bit... what i want to know is, is it a race thing? or is it about the worker, the laborer, the common layman and supporting them and there family?
or am i totally off? i live in washington state. not many punks around here just big trees and bearded ladies.
thanks for taking the time to answer!

Honest answer: They are two completely different subcultures claiming the same uniform. At the end of the day, Nazi Skins are an offshoot of Punk and Trad Skins are an offshoot of Mod. The non-Nazi branch of the punk offshoot is (of course) Street Punk/Oi . Boston is full of people sitting on the fence between punk and skinhead: Mike, Lenny and myself included.
