As a Vascular Ultrasound Technician, you operate special equipment that uses high frequency sound waves to form images that physicians use to diagnose and treat disorders of the circulatory system.

You work directly with patients using ultrasound instruments that help reveal healthy and unhealthy areas of the patients circulatory system, and record critical information such as blood flow, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. You measure and calculate critical values, analyze the results, and then provide a summary of findings to the physician who uses the information for diagnosis and treatment. Your responsibilities may also include keeping patient records, preparing work schedules, adjusting equipment, or evaluating equipment purchases.

Your program at Baker includes both classroom study and real-world clinical experience so that, upon graduation, you not only know ultrasound fundamentals and techniques, you'll have the hands-on training that enables you to work effectively with physicians and patients in any clinical setting.
