This Rhee woman is dead wrong. First of all, there's no reasonable way to assess which teachers are more effective than the others. But more importantly, if you get rid of LIFO, they'll start firing all the more experienced teachers just so they can cheat them out of the higher pay and pension that they've earned.

There are multiple problems with the status quo. We pay the teachers far too little to attract the best people and there is no objective method to grade teachers other than standardized testing which causes more problems than it solves.

We have examples across the Earth of successful public education programs. We should use those as a model and rebuild our system better than the current best because we this is not working.

Michell Rhee is full of Republican hate. Teachers with years of experience that have gotten more education will be cut with her "system" it will come down to school districts that will choose to cut the teacher getting 40K a year so they can "keep" someone they only have to pay 25K a year.

This is saddening, because one of the major issues with schools is that they are dumbing them down so significantly, but then they seem overjoyed that minority test scores are going up...I think a lot of test scores are going up when you make it that fucking simple.

you don't fire teacher in hope you get a better teacher. You raise the standard, problem is why would people put effort without incentive? Easy rather then blindly throwing money in the education reward those who change and have positive result,.

Is just me or am I hearing it correctly that these so called intellectual people in position that can actually make some changes even if its only incremental, but instead pushing problems aside and are just throwing out water down solution left and right. Take Marcy Winograd for example...she boast about her experience as a former teacher but learned there was more money to be made at the congress level...lol.
