Ha ha. The church is about faith. Religous people sit back in the comforts of their warm fuzzy churches and imagine what the world would be like if everything was like a big machine. It would be deterministic and boring they say. Do you think if they had the courage to doubt, they would be in church? Fear, and fear of doubt is the cornerstone of religion and it is from these very attitudes that science is criticized.

I find the comments that Mel makes about Isaac Newton very interesing as well as true. If we accept the worldview that makes us rooted in predictabilty, how much fun does that make our lives? Is having such complete control over our destiny really make for a fufilling life?
