This classic game even made it on to the Spectrum. Somehow they managed to cram 60 levels in. Apparently the 128K
version had music, so presumably this tzx file wasn't that version.

According to the World Of Spectrum site, Psygnosis have denied distribution of this game. Do me a favour! I eventually found this version.

  • Where you get this game and emulator.

  • The emulator is Spectaculator. The game is from Zophar Roms... The World of Spectrum site doesn't have it.

  • Ok now I have this game, but it says Start the tape. What I must do?

  • Unfortunately my old PC died (And I didn't make any backups!!). From memory, if you use Spectaculator, it should load automatically, or you may have to press SPACE or RETURN). I'll try to get Spectaculator on my new PC in the next few days and find out for sure!

  • Man, this game got hard enough on later levels on the Atari/Amiga/PC with a fully bitplaned 16 colour display (so you can tell the lemms apart from the scenery more easily!) and a mouse for control... on the speccy anything above "tricky" must have been proper Nintendo-hard. Did it even have a mouse input option of any kind?

  • u kyarnt gerrit 2 run in samz external 1-4mb please?

  • @StrokMcHaggis If the screen was scrolling, it would be hard. But it is static and the Lemmings could be green, the rest of graphics in various colours.

Compare to Cybernoid or Exolon or Dizzy or other games with static background. This is very easy even in Basic to display colourful user-defined font (or other graphics) in colours.

  • @Abrimaal With only two colours possible in a given block, that would be hard to do!

  • So Poooooor! Graphics based on a charset should be colourful. Lazy coders.

  • Real shame I can't find a video of the 128k version with the music. Yes it was the same music for each level, but it was a really good tune, and still my favourite version of it.

  • The Speccy 128k version did indeed have music, although it was the same music on every level from what I found. The music used was basically the same music as level 3 of the Amstrad version, which in turn was a recreation of the music of level 13 on the Amiga.

If you want to check out any of the other levels, the codes are the same as the Amiga (remembering of course there's less levels on the Speccy version!)

  • minimal graphics ;)

  • no was hard to play to lemming without a mouse? i ha it on amiga.. PS. on commodore was the same with better grafich

  • Wow even though the spectrum sucked, the games were shining. These days, they would just give up on a system and say it can't be done.
