Teresa Rodriguez Williamson goes to New Orleans two and half years after Katrina hit in August 2005. A cab driver takes her on a tour of a cute neighborhood right off St. Charles, just a few miles from the French Quarter. Ironically, her cab driver is from Sarajevo and he says this looks like his home town right after the war.

It is April 2008 and it looks like the storm that devastated New Orleans just dried up. This is unacceptable for an American city.

  • Great video! In the first of many shelters, I was told that I could have anything to get back on my feet as long as I didn't go back to New Orleans!!?? I've proudly returned 5/06, and plan on staying!!! AND to all who have flocked here and done nothing but complain about and tried to (and failed) change the culture of MY city...F you with a capital F, go your a@@es back to where you came from!!

  • Looke like Detroit...

  • Quit riding around bitching and volunteer.

  • the music fits tha mood

  • It makes me mad too. It is heartbreaking. I miss my beloved city, and just look at it now. :( I cry every time. FUCK GEORGE BUSH!!!!!!!!!

  • Great footage of this part of the city. I agree to what you are saying in the video.

  • NO has a port that feeds the rest of America. Industry/goverment will keep it going at any cost. The lowerninth ward does look like this. The tourist areas are fine. Try to visit the lower ninth ward and volunteer, donate money, bring medicine, do anything. Take the bus to the lowerninth ward, but leave your purse, jewelry, blackberries at the hotel.

  • Detroit is worst than New Orleans...

And there are many US City's just like this...

  • I guess New Orleans is not thought of as a city that contirbuted alot to America. Maybe the government thought of New Orleans as a ghetto and is happy that that happened to create more space for business and richer people. I guess the entire country is not first, just parts of it. The other parts will have to do what it could to stick around or keep up.
