Midi stepsequencer on Jazzmutant Lemur triggers audio clips and sliced to midi beats in Ableton Live. See manual and screenshots: http://www.tonvibration.de/SequencomatV3.html more modules at http://music-interface.com/
Triggering clips in Ableton is not the main focus of this sequencer, but it is possible via midirouting. Also effect on/off or everything you can route to a keyboard... CCmodulation is done by the sequencer and feedback in MU via the m4l connection. SequencomatV3 works great with MU, but also with any other DAW or even as standalone. You can get that template (maxpatch+Lemurmodule) on my homepage.
Try that on an IPAD!

Although the Ipad and TouchOSC are great and might be the touch control of the future, they are still restricted compared to the Lemur. Some objects and physics can not be done. Anyway, as the core of the sequ runs in Max it should be possible to use Ipad+TouchOSC to control most parts. But I am not sure if I find time for that....
