AA is a pro-fascist cult. Stay away from it. It doesn't help people to stop drinking. It just brainwashes people and steals their mental freedom. And it is full of perverts.

@ethicomm - The promises came true for me and I'm nobody special. It's takes time. Like anything else...a job you want to be successful at, a relationship you want to nurture, a sport you want to participate in...it takes work, commitment and courage. If you are willing to do what it takes to become sober, stay sober and find serenity...the promises will come true for you too. My advice, read the big book. Work the steps. Find a sponsor and go to meetings. Listen, learn and live.

I am praying the 12 promises work. I struggle to find faith in the program and God's promises and fight pessimism every day. I'm not cynical (I hope not) but just beaten down and hope to be propelled into that "fourth dimension" that is spoken of in AA.
