For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share;
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair.

Throughout Australia's history, two percent of its population growth has been made up of asylum seekers and their descendents, regardless of how they may have entered Australia, people who were eventually officially recognized as refugees, and who've gone on to establish life in Australia, many of them as naturalized Australians.

In this poignant film, we seek to restore a human face to the word refugee.
It is a programme in which six people, all of whom arrived in Australia since the end of the Vietnam War, from countries as diverse as Sudan, Cambodia, Chile, Afghanistan, Laos and Burma, recount their moving stories of what led them to abandon their homes, family, culture and certainty, in order to seek sanctuary in a foreign and distant land.
