1955 Olds Super 88 coming out of barn on cable; any brakes that were stuck slid on the oil tracks we spread on the concrete; it had been parked in there since 1983 when I drove it in 25 years ago.

  • Why couldnt a car company bring back all of the old designs of cars but put modern engines in them, and modern options. i know this would suck but people would be more willing to buy your car. Look at what dodge did with the Challenger

  • @TheMadDooby - - - Modern engines are nothing but a lot more expense. I will take the old engines any day with no pollution crap or expensive computers on them. They are cheap to repair when needed, not expensive like the newer junk.

  • @hottrodscars that's why i still drive my first car ( a 1949 olds 88) 4 barrel carb and a 350 motor. no computers here!

  • @hottrodscars I see. here in europe gassoline is 8,5 UDS a gallon

    respectivly 1,7 to 1,8 euro a litre

LPG is 0,6 euro a litre or 3 USD a gallon.

High fuel prises in europe , very boring land for petrolheads.

The only way to efford an american muscle car is to run ot on LPG here or else it is unpayable

  • @hottrodscars alot of people who complain about them complain because they dont understand them and how they work.for the do it yourselfer,it is harder to work on because its not as simple as just air fuel or spark, but if you have the tools and know how,it can actually be simpler to resolve.all the sensors and the computers are designed both to compensate and keep the car running and to prevent more serious damage kind of like a fuse does.i could however do without the smog shit on cars though

  • @hottrodscars take that same complaint to the 50's and ill gaurentee there were more problems with the cars at that time. look,im not saying im a fan of computers in cars today especially since their complexity and difficulty for the do it yourselfer who wants to work on them,im just saying that the computer will keep a car running longer if there is an issue in the engine somewhere as it will make the adjustments to fuel air and spark to compensate where as an old motor will just stop running

  • @jayocular - - In the last 2 years I have heard nothing but bitching from people who have bought newer vehicles, one guy had a $5000 repair bill for computer crap, and it still isn't right. Over-priced JUNK.

  • @jayocular - - My Dad's 1953 Olds with a V8 303 cid, got 100,000 miles on it with no engine repairs at all. He changed oil regularly every 2000-3000 miles and it was still fine when he sold it in 1967. This newer computer crap is nothing but money down the drain.

  • @215alessio - - - At $2.00 per gallon with half the heat value in LP, I'll stay with gasoline.

  • @TheMadDooby - - Computer systems in newer cars are way, way too expensive to repair. I have talked to a lot of people who wish the hell they had never bought that newer vehicle because of $5000 repair bills. Carburetors can be re-jetted for better fuel mileage, I have gotten 18.2 mpg from a 5000# 1976 Thunderbird with a 460 in it, on the highway. That's plenty good enough for me instead of some newer shitbox.

  • @hottrodscars another thing in the defense of newer motors(im going to hell for all thesee comments against old school, lol) is that modern motors are more efficient and can get more power out of the engine than an old one.though the computers and fuel injection systems add more complexity, they make the most use of the engines potential.

  • @hottrodscars though i am a classic diehard and refuse to buy new,i have to disagree with you from a reliability stand point. the metals used these days in engines will endure hundreds of thousands more miles than cars from say the 50's.if you did 100k on a 50's car,it would be considered a miracle at the time. i do appreciate the simplicity of them though and if you put a rebuilt in an old car with the newer metals and using modern lubericants, itd be able to last as long as new engines
