This song is by one of my favorite jazz improvisers, the late Joe Henderson. The song is quite sophisticated both melodically and harmonically, especially for the solo acoustic guitar version. Anyway, this is just a rough sketch of it by jamming on it today. Here's some insightful comment by Dave Liebman about Joe Henderson's compositional style and lydian scales he's using on this song:

"Inner Urge" is just a great record. The tunes, Joe, and the band are all great. Another winner is "Unity" by organist Larry Young. With Elvin Jones, Joe Henderson, and Woody Shaw on board, you really can't go wrong.

I am a growing fan of joe henderson (discovered him with "in n out"), and I still have not heard his version of this tune! Instead I keep listening to what has been posted on You tube, and I definitely like your version... thanks for making me hear these meaningful chords.
