According to Bill Nye, if you stop exploring, you're not going to move forward as a species. Your country's economy will also fall behind. After all, space exploration stimulates the economy, since it is a so-called "trickle-up" investment.

In the beginning... our primate ancestors explored what rocks could be used for. Hunting & butchering tools were invented, starting us off on our technological (& biological) evolution. Throughout history, each exploration & subsequent discovery engendered the next, often by accident. Our technologically enriched lives result from this repeated cycle of exploration, discovery & innovation that have made life better. This way, although not totally predictable, we advance.

I'm a recent atheist and definitely get your point. but sometimes it absolutely does matter what someone believes, if they are pushing their non sensical beliefs on others (ex. public schools), or using their religious beliefs to guide political decisions. Aside from that I get your point about atheists being pushy about their beliefs in everyday life, my response would be that religious people do this ALL THE TIME, and I didn't notice it as much until I "came out" as an atheist

Im a christian, Religion has its many faults, just line anything else in the world. But you clearly need to brush up on your history. Religion is actually the supporting cause of me exploration AND discovery in the world. Countries (england, spain, ect.) went out to explore new territory either under the name of their king/ queen or God. In fact the Americas were primarily discovered under the name of God.

To those oppose of the bible, (do note that I am a firm believer in science, and can understand how at least 85% to be very reasonable. After all science is very important, BUT believe it or not, so is religion.)
