No, Cuba was screwed not because of its economic policies, America isolates any nation that "rebels" against it. That isolation leads to no trade and no wealth. Just like the French and British did to Haiti or what was done to any other anti world power nation.

@305chucko Well, I think that your impression of Ernesto might be different from the vast majority of Cubans who were unable to leave because of a lack of wealth and connections. Communism brings the vast majority of people up in economic status, but it brings the ones at the top down to their level.
