Indian Attacks--Government Reaction

The Indian government has said it will respond to the Mumbai attack as a war-time emergency. Here is a statement from the junior interior minister.

[Sriprakash Jaiswal, Junior Interior Minister]:
"There is no doubt that they are highly trained and the attack has been carried out in a planned way. We want to assure the people to keep up their morale. We would give a befitting reply to the act. Our government is considering the attack as war and is dealing with the situation like war-time emergency."

Army personnel and NSG commandoes have been deployed to flush out the militants and rescue hostages.
