'Borderline' is a song by Jeff Lynne, recorded during the Armchair Theatre sessions. This song is extremely rare, having only been officially released as a b-side of 'Lift me Up', only available on the 12" and CD single.

I only have the 'Lift me Up' single as a 7" (which only contains 'Sirens' on the flip) but I got this track from one of those so-called unofficial Travelling Wilburys CDs (the ones where it's really just solo stuff from the late 80s - early 90s).

  • OMG i have "Lift me up", did not realise this was on the otherside. Was this released as the b side in the uk?

  • It should have been. The only 2 b-sides of 'Lift Me Up' that I'm aware of are this song and 'Sirens' (the b-side on the 7"/12" single)

  • @rorymacve is the genius of jeff lyne

  • When I listen to this song, I envisage a lone Stagecoach riding through the wilds of Western America on a dirt road, with the driver cracking the whip and sitting next to him, a burly cowboy singing the song on his acoustic guitar. Strange vision I know but I feel it may suit this amazing tune! =-D

  • I wish Jeff Lynne would be kind enough to include the B-side songs on some of his albums when they get re-released.Jeff is so talented and there are some songs out there which won't get heard otherwise. Borderline is a classic example, simple but it does very quickly gets you singing along.

  • A very pretty and simple feelgood tune from Jeff with a hint of J J Cale which was sadly thrown away on a 12" single B-Side.

  • What a lovely song, the small guitar riffs at the end of each verse reminds me of the small riffs in So Serious all those years before. Great song, would be great for a western film, ELO should be used more in movies! =-D

  • how did i miss this gem
