Strange recording.. It sounds like the lead was standing 10 feet from the mic. A special thanks to John Mattei who gave this to me as a Highschool graduation gift. I still enjoy your generous gift John.

Does anybody have any info about The Reminiscents or The Goldentones? I know nothing about who they were or where they're from.

  • This came out in 1963. It also came on red and blue wax

Tico & Triumphs version was in 1962

  • I never saw this on red or blue wax. I'll keep my eyes open for that

  • Ahhh.....5 stars/favs! Again, I'm in doo wop heaven! Thank YOU PJ! You post the best!

  • I really appreciate that. Thank you

  • Great record, I agree it does have a haunting sound,

  • I always like the spooky, distant sound of unrefurbished old doo-wop --taking the hiss, pops, and echo out of the song would ruin the mood. By the same token ,the Tico original is too packagedsounding, in spite of Mr. Simon's considerable talents....

  • This is just brilliant !!

  • Really like it P.J.!!! Up until tonight Tico was the only version of this I had heard. Keep up the fun surprises and thank you!!

  • The lead for The Reminiscents was Angelo Naviello. Dan Marsella was the manager and producer. The other members of The Reminiscents were Judy Steinhart (first tenor), Walter "Buddy" Kritsky (second tenor), Bobby Sibilio (baritone/bass), and me, John Costa (bass/baritone).

  • I was unaware of this version until today. I like Tico's better but solid just the same. Thanks for the history lesson.

  • Dan Marsala the lead for the group passed on in 2002 Lindhurst N.J.

  • Noce! givin' me props.. lol thanks brotha.. can I have that back? LOL I had never heard Paul Simon's version when I got this - now 22 years ago! Hope you're well.

  • PJ,

Another great song that I have in my collection. I have never heard the flip side "Flames". If you can share i, it would be great! Thanks.

    John"
