"Hey Parliament! How's it hanging?"

I hate how hypocritical Cameron has been in this election. The amount of times he has said in this election "I am not going to treat you like fools'', ''I am not going to scare-monger to get votes'' and lines along those meanings. Yet if you go to his youtube channel 'webcameronuk', it's filled tens and tens of anti-labour scare-mongering videos. Absolute hypocrite.
Funny thing actually: webcameronuk has banned my channel from posting any comments on his videos :P

People argue for electorial reform. But it isn't that neccessary; (yes, something should be done about the voters being turned away, but that's not the issue;) The issue (people call out for) is lack of proportional representation. But we really don't need it, each constiuency in England has between 60 and 80 thousand electorate. So every constituency is roughly equal.

On the other hand, you have these figures:
The difference between Labour and Conservatives is 2m votes, but only 50 seats.
The difference between Labour and Liberal Democrats is also 2m, but 200 seats!
The 4th biggest party by vote share is UKIP with over 900,000 votes! However they have 0 seats.
The 4th biggest party by seat share is the Northern Ireland, Democratic Unionist Party, who gained 8 seats, but with only 168,000 votes!

My FAVOURITE QUOTE from the election night comes from Westminster North Labour MP, Karen Buck; her win was so unexpected (even to her) that when she was asked for her reaction all she said was:
"That was sweet"
Brilliant.

Other election highlights:
-Fermanagh and South Tyrone constituency in Northern Ireland, was won by Sinn Fein, by 4 votes!!
-Peter Robinson, First Minister of Northern Ireland lost his seat! He is on some level "the Prime Minister" of Northern Ireland, and he didn't get re-elected.
-This speech: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BA2Jz7xIXw
-Conservatives managed to get just 9 constituencies outside of England. (8 of those are in Wales!)
-David Cameron (Election Debates): "I met a 40 year old man... who has been in the military for 30 years."
-And of course, who will ever forget Nigel Farage crashing his plane!

  • interesting few days ahead, they better get sorted soon I hear the pounds in trouble and we need decisive action to stop us going the way of Greece.

  • @BiffaTW You're right. Global markets fell slightly because of the trouble in Greece. Now, we're in a hung parliament which is weakening the pound. Soon, our entire economic policy wont be down to the governing power, it'll be down to the IMF.

  • If voters want to make their votes count than they shouldn't procrastinate until the last minute. It's not undemocratic, it's fair. There is a deadline for everything. People know there is a deadline to pay your taxes so people should also be aware there is a deadline to vote. There is a deadline morons so get off your arses sooner and don't blame the government for your laziness.

  • Sam, something tells me you'll be residing in 10 Downing Street one day.

  • That was the most intelligent and succinct summary of the election that I have seen - and I have watched a fair bit of news this week (even the Adam Boulton shite!)

  • You are cute, that has nothing to do with anything but I had to say. I think Cameron will make a great leader. He'll sort out our society, eveyone who is capable must work and provide for their own, not sit at home drinking alcohol, smoking ciggies and popping out babies whilst waiting for benefits, which my hard working parents and other hard working citizens are paying for. NO WAY! This madness must stop

  • Congratulations Mr. Cameron, congratulations British people. I think this one could be a good Prime Minister, the kind of leader that the UK needs.

This is just the humble opinion of an Argie, but I know one thing: in these times, we need more Churchill and less Chamberlaine in the world. Don't you think that?

RULE BRITANNIA (do it with justice and intelligence)

    Greetings

  • @LeClassics seriously that just scaremongering to put people off PR. If PR worked that way Sinn Fein would have a shit load of seats in the Irish parliament and they don't. The issue with parties like the BNP isn't that they might get seats it's that over a million people voted for them in the last election....a % of those votes are extremist nutters but there's still a % of moderate people who opted to vote for them over other parties and that needs to be looked into.

  • @LeClassics Yes, that is exactly what I want to see. Experience suggests that the worst thing that can happen to a BNP candidate is to get elected. A few councillors have been elected over the last few years, but at this election, now the public have seen how they behave in office, they have been completely wiped out. The far right is not an electoral force in the UK. Never has been, never will be.
