Ranma 1/2 Opening 1
There is two different subs to choose here.
I could not decide on witch had the best translation.
The default sub is with lyrics found on www.furinkan.com and is the one you propably are used to from the anime.
The second is with lyrics found on www.animelyrics.com and is the one I feel is more correctly translated.
Think i saw somewhere that the lyrics used by Viz is about 20% correct.

Had a feeling VIZ's translation was not the best.

Even with my limited knowledge of Japanese language notice a lot of not correctly translated words. So I guess you are right about that they made it just to be easy to sing.

i like the alternative translation, because the alternative is correctly with the japanese. I translated last year the viz lyric into german and someone (that can understand japanese) means, this is not correct, only the from animelyrics is correctlly translated.

The official from VIZ was only made, because VIZ want "sing-a-longable" lyrics.
