4lux Whites comes with the second album by iisiJii called Equation. On this longplayer the Finnish downtempo electronica extraordinaire serves you squelchy bass, ray-gun trills, clever drum programming and wobbly keyboards. Indeed, Equation is an intricate, challenging release that fuses the producer's loves-- jazz, hip-hop, videogame sounds, IDM-- into something unique. It's an album in the truest sense. Equation is so subtle, in fact, that if you're not paying close attention you might miss lots of things altogether. It's this level of confidence and commitment to iisiJii's vision that ultimately makes this album so fascinating. The Finnish producer maybe is working at the height of his creative powers right now, and the scary thing is it's reasonable to think he could get better.
