Although these pickups are DeArmond 2000 single-coil pickups, possibly Filter-Tron would have matched this music more.

  • What delay/reverb effects are you using, if any? Very good tune as well

  • @IHATEPRUANE2FOREVER1

    It's a Roland Space Echo.

  • is this guitar good for (hard) rock?

  • @LedSandman

I don't think this guitar is good for hard rock, because the overdrive sound doesn't sustain on these single-coil pickups. I think you'd better choose Hum-bucking pickups like a LesPaul.

  • What model is that one please?

  • this is a Gretsch 5127.

  • @MrBavelaar actually a 5120 has different (this 5127 has single-coil deArmond 2000s) pickups. 'gretsch-buckers'. they're very gibson-like humbuckers. thicker. hotter & dirtier (in a good way!) -i swapped mine out for TV Joneses, but honestly, i miss the original ones. they have a great tone for hard rock. if i had the cash i'd buy another one & keep it stock.

  • @alexhollandmusic decal :)

  • @googaboogaloo another rockin guitarist who plays gretsches is Tim Armstrong from Rancid, who plays a 70s Country Club. while his Electromatic signature model has filtertrons, his actual Country Club may have Dynasonics in them (single coils very similar to the DeArmond 2000s on the guitar in this video.)

  • @googaboogaloo billy duffy does use a grestch (white falcon) but his pickups are TV Joneses. he has a TV Classic in the neck position and a Classic Plus in the bridge. the Plus is a little hotter than a normal Classic.

of course those are basically TV Jones' replicas of the gretsch filtertrons, which are humbuckers.

  • awesome :D

  • @LedSandman check out the band the cult their guitarist uses a gretsch and they rock hard

  • If this is a 5 series Gretsch (5127) then how did it end up with a G brand on it?
