Pete the cockatiel playing on my desk

Our cockatiel Pete likes to sit on his play-gym on my desk while I'm using the computer, but sometimes he thinks I'm working too hard, and tries to distract me. Here, after a bit of singing, he starts practising his jumping - I think he's just showing off and having some fun, but he takes it very seriously, so maybe he's training for the Olympics?

How did u make that play gym?

@trainingyourparrot We bought it actually, quite a few pet shops or online pet stores have them. Making one wouldn't be too hard though, if you have the time and patience. We've also built things out of sticks that they liked climbing on.

I soooooo hope I can tame my cocketiel to that extent. I just got him today and he is an aviary bred bird. Any tips wellcome

@TITANSMRS One ours is from an aviary - they are harder to tame, but still possible. Is he your only bird? It's easier if so, as you're his only company. Be patient - first step is to get him to take seeds from your hand. I've *heard* that if you clip their wing feathers they tame faster, as they are dependent on you while they can't fly fully - you can let feathers grow back later then they can fly again. I've not tried this though, we only did partial clipping while they learned to fly indoors

wow I definately would not let my cockatiel on my laptop. He doesn't care where he takes a dump, even if its on my keyboard (which has happened, twice!)

He's only allowed on it when I'm there - I put the lid down otherwise. I find that I can tell about a second or two before he's going to have a poo, so I can quickly get him on my hand and move him. Having said that, I don't let him settle in on the keyboard - just run around and play games.

i have 2 cockatiels. they are named sonny and cher. ive never seen one there color its likegreen yellow and grey they r beautiful and they have oranhe cheeks
