A television campaign aimed at warming Californians to the idea of same-sex marriage will premiere during inauguration week in January. Part of an effort by the group GetToKnowUsFirst.org, the five 30-second spots will run in both rural and urban markets. The ads feature gay families describing their experiences and urging their neighbors to "get to know" them before judging them.
The hope is that the commercials -- produced by POWER UP, will change the voter sentiment that led to the passage of Proposition 8, the November 2008 ballot initiative that banned same-sex marriage in the state. These spots include the voices of Kathy Najimy, George Takei, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Dolores Huerta.Directed by Gina Levy.

Actually, we were the first lesbians to sue for equal marriage rights in the CA Supreme Court Case which won us those rights. We also are plaintiffs in the
upcoming Supreme Court lawsuit to
overturn Prop 8. (Robin Tyler et al
v State of California). Thank you for
your kind words. Robin Tyler

I'm sorry. I think I meant to say Prop 22, not DOMA. Thank you for the correction.

With all due respect, DOMA hasn't been overturned.
They may be one of the couples who sued to get Prop 22 struck down as unconstitutional in the case In re Marriage.
I could be mistaken.

I believe these were the women who got DOMA overturned. These two women are HEROES! They stand for civil rights, freedom of religion, and separation of church and state. Let's do these two brave women proud and overturn prop 8 to restore equality and the dignity of the CA constitution!
