You are so wrong Westonpowers. First of all chemicals do the work and you should use power washer to rinse it off. Nasty splinters and damage to the wood grain is caused by inexperienced homeowners trying to do it by themselfs . Sanding may close the pores in the wood and stain may not penetrate it. Also ... the point of refinishng your deck is to remove the top / dead layer of the wood. Do you think being wet in 100 degrees is a bad thing ? I LOVE IT :) REMEMBER - HIRE PROFESSIONAL

We've taught you painters well!
Now you have to get yourself a high flow machine and you'll be able to wash a 6" wide swatch as fast as you can move.

My deck wasn't touched in 10 years. I bought a pressure washer in order to clean it, It did an O.K. job, but it did,'t take all the stain off. I just don't trust the stain remover products too work too well and I didn't want to waste time trying. So, I went and bought an orbital sander with 40 grit paper. I works, but is time consuming. I wanted to but the Bosch 1250devs sander that rotates 66,500 rpm, but it's just too expensive. I know when I'm finished though it will look great.

what doesn't cause cancer these days?

please, no one ever pressure wash your deck. it is horrible for the wood grain and causes nasty splinters. even the most experienced pressure washers can not avoid scoring your wood. sand your deck, its easier and you dont have to get all wet
sorry dude your incorrect, sanding is to be done only in certain conditions. Sanding also releases chemicals in pressure treated wood that can cause cancer!
