Shopgirl - Steve Martin and Claire Danes - "Who are you?"

Shopgirl is one of my favorite movies of all time. I'm partial to Steve Martin, so I've compiled all my favorite scenes with him and the lovely Claire Danes. Here are the scenes where Mirabelle receives the gloves as a present through the mail and she is asked out to dinner at Saks by Ray Porter.

I love steve martin he is awesome comedian!

great movie!

only problem I have is that this scene in the real world does comes off very stalker-ish and creepy.

I thought about that. I asked the same questions to some people on a message board and here's one person's opinion, which I agree with:

"If a man likes you enough or have an interest in you. He will go that extra mile to impress you. I don't believe Ray stalked her. I believe that Ray tried to impress her. A man is usually the alpha male that wants to show you how of a big shot he is in this case. And he did it. He got his date with Mirabelle."

Stalker-ish / Creepy

I have lived and worked in the arena of massive bank-accounts (people who think nothing of a private jet charter)...

He simply phoned the personal shoper at the store in the movie...and requested the gloves be delivered to the home of the young lady that impressed him in the "glove dept"....people with his bank accounts....people and companies just thru hoops and don't ask questions...I've seen it over and over...

He was smitten..
