...listening to Mr. Hamelin play Chopin is like holding a conversation with a glamorous woman while having a case of the shits...one is compelled to emphasize the positive, and yet the situation is not realy at the optimum...

No one could compel me to pay attention to this piece like Hamelin just did, including Rubinstein.

Bravo!

I've heard this piece many times of course, but this was the first time it felt unified to me.
-
His 'moment of contemplation' is utterly ridiculous! otherwise , his performance is ok, I think Rubenstein's rendition is the best - of course only my opinion ...I modeled my 'tempo' of this piece from
Rubenstein.
-
As long as he took, I thought he was waiting for them all to stop breathing altogether.
-
When was this recital performed? We saw him in DC April 8 but he appeared much older. His performance of the Schumann Fantasy in C was the best I've ever heard, as was his selection of Debussy preludes.
-
He's waiting for the audience to stop coughing.

wow that silent piece rocks. i gave up downloading after 40s of silence.
