Video detailing the installation of an Acclima SCX model soil moisture sensor system on an existing digital timer. This sensor system has two parts: soil moisture sensor (buried in the ground and wired to an electric valve) and the controller (attached to existing irrigation timer). The sensor measures how much water is in the soil and sends that information to the controller via the existing electrical wiring for the valves. The controller then either allows or bypasses irrigation events based on the user-set threshold and the current amount of water in the soil. If the soil is wetter than the threshold then irrigation is prevented and if the current amount of water in the soil is less than the threshold then irrigation is allowed.
