Full info on who is behind this project:
Well there is this new Movie comming dis Mauharam Its a documentary which has been completed called "Karbala - When Skies Wept Blood" on the tragedy of Karbala. It
is an hour long and was made by a group of college
students and recent grads in the UK under their media
company name, Red Tears. One of them is my cousin and
recently visited the US for the first time. After
talking to him about it and seeing the teaser/trailer,
I've agreed to help them distribute it here in the US
this Muharram. Below is the teaser/trailer:
http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=egBT9lSoSDA
Introduction to documentary:
On the Tenth Day, of the First Month of the Islamic
calendar, in the year 61; on the hot, desert plains of
Karbala, a small group of 73 noble individuals were
massacred by an army of 70,000 men. The victims were
devout followers of the religion of Islam. The
perpetrators, led by Yazeed, son of Mu'awiyah, claimed
to follow that very same religion. It was a day 'When
Skies Wept Blood'. The sacrifice of Karbala is
unrivaled from the dawn of time. Yet the martyrdom of
Hussain and his exalted 72 companions is neglected by
the majority of Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Hussain
sought to bring justice through this great sacrifice.
He did not revive the religion of Islam, he
resurrected it. RedTears brings you a historical
documentary looking at the chain of events from the
death of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, to the tragic
massacre of his grandson Hussain and his noble
family."
The following alims/scholars appear in the documentary
as well as others:
Sayed Fadhil Milani
Sheikh Ayyub Rashid
Sayed Mahdi Al Modarresi
Sheikh Hamza Sodagar
Sayed Ammar Nakshawani
It is impressive and exciting that these young men put
this together. Be sure to also check out their website
(www.redtears. co.uk), which is still under
construction.
Regarding the distribution of the documentary on
Karbala, inshallah, RedTears will be dispatching
batches of DVDs internationally on the 15th of January
to different locations.
The volume of DVDs sent to each country will depend
upon estimates from the distributors in those
locations (that's me!) - that means I need to know
exactly how many each of you need for your different
centers. They are expecting to send between 1000-3000
copies to the US. We need your help to get these out!
Once I have received the estimation for each center, I
will send over the details of the center & how many
DVDs each would like to RedTears. Once they have
received this, they will send me the required amount
to cover all these centers plus some extra for
individual orders. Then I will mail them out to be
received hopefully by the 1st of Muharram.
Details:
DVDs will be sold at a price of $12 across America.
For every DVD sold, $10 will belong to RedTears
Production while $2 can be kept for the Imambargah
centers.
Each center will have until Arbaeen/Chehlum to sell
all the DVDs that were sent to them. After Arbaeen,
all centers will be required to transfer all revenue
gained for RedTears to me and also send back all those
copies of the DVD which have not been sold.
Any centers requiring more DVDs through Muharram can
contact me directly or through you guys. Please send
the following details to me at AliNaquvi@yahoo. com:
Your Name:
Address:
Email:
Phone:
Center Name:
City & State of Center:
# of DVDs:
I need the above information by this Saturday, January
13th.
Note: You will NOT have to put up any money but will
be responsible for collecting money from your centers
since you are my contact ($10 for each DVD sold - $2
for each is kept by the center). MAKE SURE THE CENTER
IS WILLING TO SELL THEM OR YOU CAN SELL THEM ON YOUR
OWN BEFORE YOU ORDER.
RedTears is also setting up a pre-order system on the
website at the moment so individuals can order online
and have them sent to their individual addresses.
Price will vary to different international locations
but details will be on the website. America online
price will be between $10-15 including postage and
packaging. Or you can just get private copies from me
as well. To do so, please write to me at
AliNaquvi@yahoo. com.
If you have any questions or need clarification,
please ask send me an email.
A longer trailer should be released by the weekend to
show it in a more documentary format.
If you need to write to your center to introduce the
documentary and ask how many they want, please feel
free to use information provided in this email or on
the RedTears website ( www.redtears. co.uk), including
the URL for the trailer (http://www.youtube.
