I've been in the military for almost 5 years now...and because of these videos, I'm actually embarassed to say I am. The way the WV NG conducted themselfs is terrible, and to think they came home, to their families, flags waving, the national anthem playing....and to think they did something good?...No Way....What about the families of the slain drivers?..

@MadeinBaghdad funny, I don't think you've ever been out side of the USA. guess your trying to provoke a fight inside the USA seeing as you are a USA citizan

@krgrubbs It is against company policy to be armed since they are not of the security section. Some other truckers carried arms anyway because of crap like this.
-
RIP Kevin Dagit. Why didn't these fellas have onboard arms to fight back?
-
Bring them all home NOW.

@Duluiyah Not at all. I don't know the entire situation, but I've gotten a lot out of what I've seen and researched. Either way, you can't deny the fact that a civilians do not belong on the battlefield.
-
One more thing, stop blaming the military for not arming the drivers. That's their company's responsibility. Stop and think what you are going to say/type before you do so.. you're telling me that you want the military to take their firearms, and hand them to untrained drivers? I'm not saying that this is a great situation, but realize what you say.
-
@marlow351 I want you to tell me what I'm missing. I'm not going by what reports are or what people are saying, let alone an untrained overpayed contractor. I'm basing my judgements on what I'm able to hear over the radio and see in the video.. nothing more, nothing less. So, since you're in the military.. would you and your unit have stayed right there.. in the middle of small arms fire (and rpgs and ieds according to what other say)? In the killzone, that's what you were taught?
-
@Duluiyah I'm going to go ahead and put it out there, I'm a U.S. Marine. I served actively in Iraq. SOP is to push through a killzone. If they had IEDs, RPGs, and small arms fire.. any member of any branch would have gotten theirselves killed by standing their ground. I don't know what happened after as I was not there, and neither were you. But the evidence in the video and what has been reported on multiple chains is they did what they were supposed to.

@Duluiyah running? no prob not. pushing through an ambush? yeah there are vid on youtube
you dont stay in the killzone of a ambush. you push forward, go back the way you came or charge the ambushers. thats be around since my farther was in the army, the NG did what they were trained to do. i feel sorry for the driver but he knew that there was a chance he could get shot at when he went over and if he didnt think there was risks when he went to a counrty at war then he is kind of dumb. plus the NG have a right to go home to their familys just as much as the drive

@lolagyable Thank you for your posting. Many belive your way, that's why the Marines are in a class by themselves. Marines stand their ground while others run away. Thank God the USA has Marines to do the job that others refuse too.

@Duluiyah not having a go but in an ambush marines sop is to push through, then stop once out of the killzone and then lay down covering fire to any units still in it until they can mount a effective counter attack..... which is the same as what most forces would do and what the NG did. :T these comment just shows that some people really dont know what they are talking about when they post.

@lolagyable video shows the truth. I would love to see a video of Marines fleeing from a firefight.

@Duluiyah I see you also can appreciate paying these unarmed truck drivers 5x or more as much as military personnel to do the same job the military could have done for less cost to the taxpayer. I'm not saying that these guys deserved what happened, but I am saying I'm sick and tired of seeing all this military especially from Preston Wheeler, who was OBVIOUSLY SAVED BY THE MILITARY BECAUSE HE'S STILL ALIVE. I wonder how many troops needlessly risk their lives to protect civilian contractors?
