I have a 30, my grandpa used it mainly for deer but he did get a bull moose with it once.

The 30-40 Krag makes an excellent deer rifle. The heavy, slow moving projectile drops deer in their tracks. Magnums are a modern myth, and actually less effective on deer than the old and perfect cartridges.
