Audio only of Joe Pass performing 'The Song is You'. Recorded in 1977 at Gilly's jazz club, with a panasonic portable recorder at a front table. Joe said he didn't mind if the performance was recorded as long as the mike wasn't on the stage.

  • Absolutely incredible. My favorite musician. I wish there was a video of this. This audio brings back so many memories. I loved watching him play. Thanks for posting this. You did good.

  • If Bird had been a guitar player, maybe that's what it would have sounded like.

  • Wow, never heard this before! Do you think Pablo have exhausted the vaults on Joe Pass live /unreleased material?

  • This guy is a GOD!!

  • Joe Pass is so good it is ridiculous. Yet, so am I.

  • Absolutely stunning.

  • @sonofrest I agree. Charlie Christian wasn't playing bebop. Joe Pass on the other hand dedicated himself (like many players back in the day) to sounding exactly like charlie parker. Of course, I would say Joe Pass sounds like Joe Pass above anything else, but the charlie parker influence is totally there! Charlie Christian played in a different style in a different era. Bebop wasn't even alive when he hit the scene.

  • Dare you to transcribe this :> (ps Send me the transcription por favor :))
