This 2nd meeting between MJ and Shaq's Lakers somewhat lost its luster due to Shaq being grounded from an injury. With the Bulls playing their 3rd road game in 4 nights, no one but MJ and Pip bothered to show up. MJ's crystal ball "words of wisdom" before the game should have been heeded but the energy just wasn't there. MJ, however, was his usual self with his intensity and defense - even though at 10-24, his shot took a rare night off by his standards - especially with him shooting a torrid 58.4% in his last 8 games leading up to this one.

But the main development was that Elden Campbell did his best Shaq impersonation and allowed the feisty Lakers to control the game this night. On a side note, it was pure entertainment watching a young Kobe Bryant displaying his zest in playing against his idol for the 2nd time in his career (the 1st game is also uploaded on my channel).

And while the game was not the grand show it was supposed to be with Shaq out of the picture, MJ's footwork and cool fades were as satisfying as ever. And, of course, the customary 'move of the night' belonged to its rightful owner.

  • @Hoops I emailed you once trying to find a certain game. This is it !

I flew from New Zealand to L.A to see MJ play live.. Cost me a fortune. How can I get a copy of the whole game?

Thanx in advance for any help given

  • Email me on the Youtube message system and I'll see what I can do.

  • Hey Hoops, did you show every single MJ field goal in this game? I'm trying to figure out if that move in that one "frozen moment" commercial was real or just computerized.

  • Yes, I'm sure I got every FG here. I don't think that Frozen Moment scene is from a real game by the way.

  • type "short guy dunks" in the youtube search box to see a 5ft 5in guy dunking a 10ft hoop

  • kobe scored a total of 10 points vs the bulls in their two matchups in the 96-97 season. kind of hard to believe that now. 5 ppg average against jordan that year. jordan who average 29.6 ppg that season average 28.5 ppg against the lakers that year. 30 in their first game at chicago and then 27 in this game. just leaving a little stat for you guys. jordan was coming off a great game against the sonics prior to this game. he was still dominating the league at 33, but closer to 34 at that point.

  • GOOD GOD. Jordan's hangtime is UN-FUCKIN-REAL

  • @JenToro18 Yea but Kobe jst averaged 8 PPG his rookie year cuz he wasnt getting da clock...He did'nt become da Kobe we know until 1999-2000 season

  • @JenToro18 true that, no doubt jordan is the best, I have no problem with putting kobe in 2nd though

  • Jordan is basketball in the purest. Great to watch him play, especially with the black unis

  • Air Jordan The Championship of his Heart is Still Living. Called Legend!

  • uhm i think we should cut kobe some slack, he came out of highschool to play basketball not many like that, and highschool ball is diffrent then NBA ball more intense, so we gotta accept that kobe isnt refined yet and hes playing NBAs monster so therefore kobe wasnt that bad but i guess if anyone played jordan we would all lose execpt maybe chamberlain

  • @airjordan1585 it couldn't have been from this game because in the commercial the bulls uniforms are red.

  • Greatest player forever.

  • 6:02 his royal airness at his finest
