Kelvin Thomson, Member for Wills, today released a 14 Point Plan for Population Reform to stabilise Australias Population at 26 million. Mr Thomsons 14 Point Plan includes reducing Australias migration program to 70,000 per annum, reducing the skilled migrant program to 25,000, abolishing the baby bonus, restricting the Large Family Supplement, requiring overseas students to return to their country of origin and complete a two-year cooling off period, and increasing the refugee program from 13,750 to 20,000 per annum. • Common sense from a politician? How often does that happen?

Mr Thompson's clear logic makes Mr Rudd look like a total (insert your own insult here).

Well done, Kelvin. Keep up the good work.

  • Good on you Kelvin. I hope you can withstand the forces who always try to shut down population & immigration debates with accusations of racism. It's business migration that needs to be reduced not humanitarian & that distinction is lost on ignorant commentators.

But you're up against your fellow politicians who like to see house prices increase by 17% per year because it makes the electorate feel wealthier. It's a national ponzi scheme!

  • This guy is just another politician who is craving for attention by adopting Pauline Hanson's ideas, rephrased with less offensive words.without migrants AU may end up like NZ,not enough people to pay tax to run the country. I know Australians well, this guy will have no job soon, end up like Pauline Hanson.

A guy who gives personal reference to a Mafia man as "responsible, caring husband and father" he got no say in anything let alone country's affairs.

  • @tubester4567 Tiny European countries with thick, fertile topsoil, abundant rivers and high rainfall. Noticed much of that beyond the East coast of Oz tubester?

  • Kevin '07? Id prefer Kelvin '10, get this man in charge now, before it's too late

  • Unfortunately it looks like the only way Australia and the whole world can protect itself is by stopping its population growth. I just hope that this plan wouldn't give Australia the opportunity to not reduce its carbon emissions. I also hope we don't end up with lots of huge ugly houses because we have enough room for them.

Thanks a lot Kelvin for acting on the huge Greens vote in your electorate.

  • Tiny European countries have populations of 50-60-80 million. We should be able to fit in 40 million at least.

  • What you talkin about homes. Australia was one of the first countries in the world to give women the vote.

  • Go Kelvin Go

I wish people would not be afraid to improve their own quality of life.

It's a long term project e.g. it took years to even get smoking considered as 'bad for your health', and to get women the vote (in Oz anyway) etc.

The world needs gutsy people like you to step up.

  • Sorry. Thomson.
