@19thSFGA I agree, I work with 75KV and 75KA on a regular basis, I work for Eaton Corp and we build this stuff all the time, this is not a great racking system they have nor do they seem to have very high quality equipment compared to what we use at Eaton corp. But that is the difference between a 35K dollar structure and a 100K dollar structure. You get what you pay for.

you have to be a certified on medium voltage what is above 600v. Its basically turning off a breaker to large panel. Medium voltage is scary stuff usually 1200V and up.

What is racking?

This a good first step in the safe racking of this type of GE Metal-Clad Switchgear. However, there are a couple of safety issues in the video that need to be addressed. First and foremost, the operator is not wearing Arc Flash resistant clothing that is anywhere near what is required by NFPA 70E 2009. Secondly, there are other remote racking systems on the marked that allow for the closed door racking of GE Metal-Clad gear of this type. This other option greatly reduces the flash hazard.

13.8kV @ 1200A, yeah anything that allows people to be farther away during racking is a good thing...
