Finally, the latest Catalyst Drivers did alot of improvements in the performance of this particilar title; Lost Planet (the demo that is) which has from the start favorited Nvidia by far due to the fact it has been designed to run better on referenced G80 chipset standards. Especially in AA since the game didn't take notice of the shader-based Anti-Aliasing found on the R600 2900XT.

In this video I wasn't able to kick up Anti-Aliasing at all since the game wouldn't let me - I've been able to do that before now, but something is just funny with CapCom... they've been around for too long to do anything good.

I'm running on highest settings with exception for Anti-Alising which is completely off - but I do have 16xAF active. But the AA isn't important in this game, atleast not as important as many other games, since this game has good looking Blur effects which just makes the surrounding blurred when doing fast movements anyways, so that won't be a problem.

To notice is:
Framerate is dropped when recording (doing this with Fraps 2.9.1 Retail) recording FPS: 20-25FPS average - Non-Recording FPS: 30-50FPS.

This game is designed to run better on Nvidia boards, therefor it is obvious the 8-series most often will perform better in this DEMO. So we can't compete undependent DEMOS from one manufactor to another.

Current rig:
MSI K9A Platinum, X580, Crossfire-ready
AMD Athlon X2 6000+
2048mb OCZ ATi Crossfire Certified RAM (CL4 - 800mhz)
Sapphire HD 2900XT
Creative X-fi Xtreme Gamer
Thermaltake Toughpower 750W

  • the guys chattin shit, hes playin on a fukin xbox360 not on a 2900xt, as you see when he picks the weapons it says press "B" to pickup.

    The guys FUCKIN

  • Ever played the Demo? Ever read my description This game is 100% convertation from the X360 and is optimized for the X360 controller while Capcom didn't even remove the button tabs in the early Demo. Download the demo yourself and you'll see. I don't even own a X360 and probably never will.

  • why didnt u get DX10 ? it wud run better, and look better too

  • Runs better? No, runs significantly slower and looks only better by the smallest minimum. I did try Windows Vista and "DX10 Lost Planet" but it wasn't playable on any front, performance kicks down by 30% from XP to Vista while the DX10 layers also consume alot of additional power.

  • could you recommand me a ATI Radeon HD graphics card that can handle command and conquer 3 but is not expensive........

    Thanks

  • HD4850 is the only way to go, excellent performance, single-slot and excellent price.

  • I don't why people think this game's so great... Kinda boring.

  • LOL don't know who did those benchmarks

    they must be total retards

the gtx does run some games better than the 2900xt, but the gts is definitely not better than the 2900xt...
