People are under the false impression that legalizing drugs will reduce crime. So would legalizing murder by the simple fact that it isn't criminal anymore. The problem is you assume that there wont be anymore murderers in the streets.
The people that deal in narcotics will not become educated and get jobs at NASA or Microsoft. They will simply move to another illegal and dangerous enterprise. Legalization is not a cure, it simply surrenders to the problem.

Its odd to see military vehicles on the street. Its common on the middle east news but here, in Mexico! The problem that we have in my country is the corruption. Drug cartels buy protection from the police and local gobernors giving them even much more power to operate. Its true that legalizing drugs will affect the cartels 100%, and also if the demand decreases. The US and Mexico have to work together on this issue.
Regards from Mexico City.

LOL
Yea, because that worked so well every other time a black market was packing in tons of money smuggling something that a large population wanted.
All that does is raise the price and make it even more lucrative for the poor Mexicans that act as mules.
How about if you wake up and read a book.
Its called supply and demand, dumbass!
Its fairly basic.
Totalitarian BS has NEVER ONCE stopped a black market!
It amazes me how YOU PEOPLE repeat history and never learn from it.
