Here's a clip from the "stuff that's usually small suddenly getting big and wreaking havoc"-genre classic "Food of the Gods".
Surprisingly enough, this classic B-movie is actually based off of the works of none other than H.G. Wells, who wrote a similarly titles science-fiction short-story on this same topic.
Experimental growth-formula finds its way into the diets of more than just chickens and cattle, and the shenanigans begin.
This movie features giant wasps, giant chickens, giant maggots and plenty of other giant critters. However, in this clip we get to see how giant rats bring one of our less important characters to a demise.
Bert I. Gordon wrote, directed and did the special-effects on this movie, and this is probably my favorite film out of his career.
For those who don't know, Bert I. Gordon made a name for himself doing special-effects in the 50's for B-movies about stuff that was normally large suddenly being large, most notably movies like "The Beginning of the End" (giant crickets), "The Amazing Colossal Man", "War of the Colossal Beasts", "Tarantula" and plenty of others.
