Nice tort. Good job on raising him, mine has full range in the back yard as well. I really think it's best, he crawls around and grazes then crashes on lawn somewhere.

So cute... You can't not say "awe" to a tortoise eating. He look very healthy! I got a baby. He's one and is about 4 in. What did you do for your enclosure? I would love to hear.

That is a beautiful tortoise. The shell is very nice. You must take super good care of it.

I don't have an enclosure and never had. My tortoises have had full range over my entire back yard. When they were born to a couple years old I kept them in a small aquarium.

Uh no, that would not be enough grass if it get to be as big as mine 45-50 lbs. It might work for a small baby-5 yrs old.

How do you avoid pyramiding? How long does it take for them to be full-grown?

Feed them grass and Alphalpha like you would horses. They eat grass all morning and in the evenings. Bernuda grass in the summer and perinnial rye in the winter. Make sure they get plenty of sun, but have the opportunity to get in the shade too becuse they can get too hot. Diet and sun will help to reduce pyramiding. ? I don't know how long it takes them to get full grown. Good ?
