Unrehearsed demo of my black wood headjoint on a Yamaha 681-h open G# flute (permanent open G# conversion was done by Tom Green). Headjoint is of a full wall design with a tapered bore and a wall thickness of 4.9 mm at the blow hole. The blow hole itself measures 10.3 mm x 11.9 mm, much smaller the late model, Cooper style headjoints. This headjoint and other headjoints of different woods and styles are available for purchase on special order. Thanks.

Thanks for you comments arhys79 and nickysaxpiccolo. I switched to open gis because I liked the balance by having an extra finger stabilize the flute. I also have easier high E's and A's. Best thing...no one dares borrow my flutes:-) I can still play closed gis like I used to after a few minutes of scales and arpeggios.
