On 9/1/2008, nearly a year after the concert hosted in honor of the 32 lives lost on 4/16/2007, Theta Iota Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha and the Association of Black Psychologists at Virginia Tech hosted a listening party forum for Nas' latest album "Untitled". A booklet was given to the audience explaining many of the historical references that Nas makes in the album. Each song was played, followed by discussion. Themes discussed were Black Leaders, The Black Experience in the United States, The Media, and The Importance of History. The forum was hosted because of the empathy that Nas showed for participating in the free concert and the historical signifigance of "Untitled"

  • Our Fraternity taped the entire forum. I will attempt to post some additional footage. I also appreciate each opinion that is presented on this page. Just to clarify the purpose of the forum though... the purpose was to discuss issues of racism, sexism, classism and lack of education about history through the use of Nas' album as a vessel. If you did not attend the forum, please approach this concept with an open mind. Thanks

  • are you serious? I'm a hip hop head at heart and always will be, but theres other things that must be taught in school other than nas lol

  • FYI, this was an educational program to discuss the significance of the album and not a class.

  • That's right...campuses. Maybe you need to go back to english class, but I see you tried to avoid my point.

  • campuses? I think i proved my point, there are other important issues to discuss in college......like english

  • Is this all you have recorded? I'd like to see more.

  • You don;t think that stuff ever gets discussed? Those have been ongoing discussions on campuses for years. Its ok to switch it up. College is about education and enlightenment in its broadest form.

  • ok sorry....i think there are other important issues out there we can discuss in "forums/educational programs at Virginia Tech. I mean when it comes to politics, aids, social class, monorities issues, domestic violence, terrorism, ect fuck nas....

  • Forum means platform for discussion it ain't a class.
