@wookimania I agree. Even though I was glad Rage Against The Machine got the Christmas number 1, I still respect Joe McElderry's singing ability. I even prefer his version of The Climb to the original by Miley Cyrus.

I sure was proud to see the X-Factor get owned that year by Rage Against The Machine. But I don't really think 2009 was the right year for it to happen, because there were some OK contestants on it. The campaign should've struck against Alexandra Burke in 2008. I could sing Hallelujah better than that spoilt, smug, overrated bitch! Still, the campaign was a success. Let's hope Nirvana makes it this year with Smells Like Teen Spirit - and that those pop-loving morons will hear some REAL music.

Fact: the music industry basically has a box full of "hit singles" written down. They just give them out to new artists who have the marketable appeal. It nearly happened with The Beatles, until they proved their own song writing to be worthy enough.
