  • I regret that I never persevered with this piece. It always reminded me of a bright sunny day. Guaranteed to cheer flagging spirits! Super!. Lovely fugue follows, too.

If you would ask people on the street or somewhere else and you would show them this prelude and fugue, I guess they would probably say that this is typical baroque style. Well that is what I thought at least when I first listened to it years ago.

Unfortunately, here in Scotland your average person of the street is not interested in this type of music. The various television and radio stations blast out so much rubbish. It was always rewarding when someone inquired after the church service about a piece I had played earlier. I tried over the years to shine a light on their musical darkness and fed them a balanced diet of Bach amongst others..

Actually you're right that a big majority isn't well educated anymore. It's the same here in Germany. On the other hand this kind of music shouldn't be broadcasted on the radio as well. It simply doesn't fit.

    Greetings to Scotland btw. ;-)

  • A lovely rendition. Tempo, voicing and articulation just right in my book. Thanks.

  • The tempo is perfectly fine, playing it too fast is just way too mushy and can barely here Bach's hidden melody and harmony.

  • And a slightly faster tempo if possible

  • The articulation is really lacking in :52 - :57. This piece is festive and buoyant... Those eighth-note pulses need crispness, not smoothness. Also the bass line could be brought out more throughout.

Props for learning this incredibly difficult piece but I'm afraid the whole atmosphere of it isn't conveyed in this performance.

  • played like a singer playing a group of bowed instruments perfectly

  • 2:13 there is a C (not D) in the highest voice

  • Marvelous! :D Thank you for the kindness of uploading this!

Thank you for your warm greetings. May I return the greetings to you. Hope the weather in Germany today is as nice as it is here - warm, sunny and calm. Lovely for October! Please feel free to call me by my name - Neil. I trust you will not mind if I call you Daniel in any future correspondence. Best wishes.
