@MisterNickOtine I think the stigma comes from those that do some despicable things to acquire the opiates when they are undergoing withdrawals or their fear of withdrawing. There are many opioid addicts who live productive lives and hold down jobs. Even the most destructive opioid addicts actually work pretty hard to round up the resources to get their fix. Some however steal as part of their "work" and those actions lead to the demonization you speak of.

other than being addictive, pure diamorphine is not damaging to the body. the harm comes from unsterile needles and needle sharing. long term diamorphine does not cause organ damage, kidney or liver damage. it's only long term effect is constipation problems.

@MisterNickOtine You are right. Pure heroin is very safe (in the right dose); safer than methadone which can be quite lethal. Unsafe injection practices can lead to infections and abscesses.

for fucks sake people, wake up... this is definitely real. don't be so damn naive. black tar heroin is injectable... and just because u can't tell someone is a user doesn't make fake. within the last few mins of that video u can CLEARLY see all the injection spots on his hand (i've seen this myself in people i never thought were users after getting to know them). just because they don't have festering pustules on them doesn't mean they don't use. wake up. it could be ur kid or family membr

@theboomster You are so right there is a stigma that comes with being a drug addict and it has a lasting and very negative effect on a addict long after they stop using. As odd as this may sound there are different 'classes' of addict's some you would never guess are addicted to anything at all others you can spot in second's.
