I recently started re-playing Mario 64, and I couldn't get this star for anything. Then I watched this video and went back to the game and got it! That jump to the higher platform is tricky.

Thanks Jarvis for all your great walktrhoughs, here's a tip I found out just now while playing. When you are going along those skinny boards that are super easy to fall out just hold z and mario will be in the crawling position, it is way easier to crawl across the boards although it may take a bit longer. Thanks for all your extremely helpful walkthroughs!

that seventh coin is pissing me off.

This is the worst level in the game. It's full of fucking slopes and flames. On top of that, you have to keep switching between big and small. It's incredibly frustrating.

when blasting to the higher ground from the cannon i suggest aiming above the tree that way you grab on to the tree and can safely lower yourself
