well biased to leeds uni, people dont go leeds met cos they cant get into leeds uni, i cud easily have got in leeds uni, but if i wanted to act all stuck up about my uni like the pretentious poofs atleeds uni, id go to a fuckin decent uni like oxford, u aint nothin special, hate to break it to u.

The best bit about that comment is the fact you reckon you could have got into oxford when your at met, thats like saying i chose to be a dustman when i could have been playing for man utd instead! ...but those more specialised degrees are still needed. If you want to go on to be a designer or work in film you'll still want a degree - well you'll struggle without one anyway.

i'm going to Met in september to study Graphic Design. the facilities are incredible and it's reputation for the subject is better than Leeds Uni's - so it's not because i couldn't get into Leeds Uni, it's because it'd be in my best interest to go to Met.

that's one reason why the 2 Uni's aren't really comparable.

the traditional, highly ranked unis are ranked highly because they stick to the more traditional subjects. these subjects will be well funded and have quite high employment figures, which improves their stats when it comes to league tables.

unis such as Met offer subjects that Leeds Uni doesn't. some more specialised subjects it offers can sometimes suffer from low employment after leaving such as the Arts/Design & Sport etc. this affects its league ranking but doesn't at all make it a poor uni

But in computer science related work, Leeds Met's more of a software development, more application based University if you like, for example why do you think Bluetooth exists? Leeds Met had a major part in its development before it was released.

there are also certain subjects that leeds met university do that leeds uni dont, they are both good, i think it just depends on personal preference.
