a good realistic comedy where characters act like human beings...sadly this is a quality 'my family' lacks :S

@rags015 Family squabbles? Sure. Petty rivalries and unresolved issues? Bring it on. But thinking only of how your retirement will be affected and total disinterest in your young grandchildren's mental well-being at the death of their parents? Those characters were pathological. The same plots of trying to raise the kids and not really understanding children's motivations would have worked even if they had made the couple a little remorseful.

@pnyc1969 This series was and still is very much watchable. The characters are real-life. Haven't we all read enough newspaper articles about family squabbles and hatred, and don't we all know some of those people?!

This show was dreadful. It's clear why they never tried to make an American version of it. A show with such unsympathetic protagonists would never work here. They go on and on about disliking their son and they couldn't care less about their grandchildren. I am not a overly sympathetic person and I love black humor but I found the premise of this series rather disturbing.
